With the UK population growing so fast, young jobseekers must try harder than ever to stand out in the crowded job market. Skills and experience will help, and for this reason there’s a fresh emphasis on the importance of cost-effective vocational training. Investment in employee training has never been more important.
The government and the business community are together developing specialist apprenticeships to help young jobseekers find gainful employment – in areas including healthcare, retail, engineering, tourism and construction. According to figures from the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, 520,600 people started an apprenticeship in the last academic year – 13.9% up on the preceding year. This is a major new area of career management and job creation, which aims to reshape how millions of young people embark on a chosen career.
